A typical scene in an office.[2]

An office was a type of workplace in which the workers were involved with paperwork, taking phone calls, and anything else related to business management of the company. An office at a person's home was often called a home office or study.

Common office equipment was copy machines; desks with laptop computers, paper for printing, business phones, among other things.

The office was a common place for on-the-job bullying and sexual harassment. Office supervisors or office managers were usually in charge of the day-to-day operations in offices. Someone elected to an office job was called an official.[3]
