A general was a high-ranking officer in an army or other armed forces.

The title was used by alien cultures throughout space wherever military organizations existed, including the planet known as Krypton, which, prior to its' destruction, had an appointed general named Zod.

General Zod became corrupt with his position in the Kryptonian military however, and he was charged with crimes and exiled to the Phantom Zone by Jor-El.^[2]
